RAGTRADE Atlanta: The Alumni

RAGTRADE Atlanta 2015As I mentioned on Tuesday, RAGTRADE Atlanta has, as an organization and the designers they work to show, had a huge year of growth from the 2014 show.  Two designers returned this year and seeing the range with which they’ve incorporated into their collections over the last year was really one of the highlights for me.  Natt Taylor and Edmond Newton had two of the strongest collections in RAGTRADE’s inaugural show, and this year they didn’t disappoint with their Spring/Summer 2016 collections.  I’ll have a recap of the new class of RAGTRADE designers up later today.

Natt Taylor Spring/Summer 2016 RAGTRADE AtlantaI love and admire that Natt Taylor never shies away from bold colors and prints.  I think we’re kindred spirits in that sense.  Natt’s clothes are always super feminine without feeling too precious.  Last year she wowed me with her trousers and animal print shorts.  This year she doubled down on both strengths and may have even got me on the jumpsuit bandwagon.  This year’s collection definitely had some added sass that I hope continues into next year’s showing.

Edmond Newton

Edmond Newton Spring/Summer 2016 RAGTRADE AtlantaEdmond Newton‘s collection was definitely one of the big draws for this year’s runway show.  Edmond has been KILLING it on this season’s Project Runway so I think think most people were excited to see how that would translate into his Spring/Summer 2016 collection.  Edmond has clearly gained a higher level of sophistication with his patterns and textiles that bring a whole new lux quality to his pieces.  So many of his pieces (that gold skirt specifically) have me anxiously waiting for the time when I can buy an Edmond Newton piece any and everywhere I shop.
