One Room Challenge: Week 3

One Room Challenge 2018 Bedroom Atlanta Blogger Jenna Wessinger Just a Touch Too Much

This edition of my One Room Challenge is all about the new additions. Last week I focused on re-vamping and upgrading the items I already had, so this week we’re looking at the items that I’m introducing into the space.

Shelves. Right now I have a lot of things. Everywhere. What I really need is a way to edit down what I have out and on display, while also keeping it neat and organized. I found these shelves with a quick search on Amazon (assembly was required) but they looked like a great match to the nightstands I purchased earlier. I have a small space of wall between my two closets that this fit perfectly on. Plus with it being so close to my closet, I can use it for some of my prettier accessories. I’m not completely sure how I’ll be styling the shelves, but we’ll tackle that next week.

Curtains. I love the flood of natural afternoon light in my room. But I do recognize that I need to do something with those windows since they take up a large portion of one wall. But for whatever reason, styling curtains is my kryptonite. So I have been looking long and hard for something that fit this mish-mash of theme I’ve slowly been pulling together. Should have known West Elm would have me covered. The tasseled sides and the embroidery along the edges just fits in perfectly.

Rugs. I know my floor is carpeted, but that doesn’t mean I can’t have little fun with some smaller rugs here and there. In all honesty I was not planning on adding rugs since, again, carpet. But I happened upon two super cute smaller rugs on two separate occasions in two different stores. I LOVE this little animal Persian rug for the space between my bed and dresser, or maybe even in front of my sink. The little furry rug was a super random find at a Hobby Lobby when I was looking for potential throw pillows. Didn’t find any pillows, but couldn’t let this little fuzzy rug go. I’m thinking it’ll be perfect for the big area in front of my mirror.

Clothing Rack. I like to keep my favorite pieces out and in view as sort of a constant source of glitter and inspiration. The only place I really had to do that was along the door frame to my closet which wasn’t super conducive to getting in and out of my closet. So I spent a lot of time looking at a bunch of different clothing racks. I knew I wanted a solid shelf across the bottom for some shoes, and ideally a shelf across the top for even more shoes. I loved this one for those reasons and the fact that it’s shaped differently than most of the others I’ve seen.

Color & Art. I have had a major art crush on Paige Gemmel for years. I actually bought this pillow a couple of years ago and have just hung on to it since then with the hope that I’d would find a way to use it in the future. That kicked off my adoration for Gemmel’s artwork. Her color palate is the palate of my dreams, bright and vibrant. She also has a great Etsy shop where she sells all of her prints. I’m up to 3 prints for myself with my eye on several others. Also, I think this gorgeous artwork is the reason my room has inadvertently taken on a bit of an animal theme. #SorryNotSorry
