NYFW S/S 2015 Rebecca Taylor Michael Kors Opening Ceremony{Rebecca Taylor, Michael Kors, Opening Ceremony}

Now that the spectacle that is New York Fashion Week is over, at least until the next season, it’s time to really dig deep, reflect, and take a look at all of the emerging trends that are about to come our way in 6-8 months.  Below is a collective round up of all of the trends that made their way down the runways.

Gingham and Buffalo Check during the Spring and Summer months is nothing new to us knowing Southerners.  But this coming season, the designers have also caught on the versatility of these two prints.  Everyone from Diane to Oscar was feeling the Southern staple.

Trend: I’ve Got the Blues

NYFW 2015 Blue Trend Tory Burch, JCrew, Tibi{Tibi, JCrew, Tory Burch}

With fashion week spanning a full week of hundreds of shows, it can be a bit daunting to comb through the collections to find some overarching trends.  But there was no two ways around it.  Blue was everywhere, and in just about every shade imaginable, whether it was the focal point, sprinkled throughout, or used sparingly.

Trend: Slimming Stripes

NYFW 2015 Vertical Stripe Trend Cushnie et Ochs Suno Tommy Hilfiger{Cushnie et Ochs, Suno, Tommy Hilfiger}

Horizontal stripes are one of those nautical staples in Summer.  In 2015 however, vertical stripes will be taking over the scene.  Everyone should rejoice since we are all about to look a lot taller and leaner!

Trend: Garden Party

NYFW 2015 Floral Trend{Nonoo, Prabal Gurung, Zimmermann}

Many designers chose to embrace the spring norm and play with florals.  However the florals themselves were far from the norm.  Whether watercolor like Nonoo or abstract like my personal favorite, Carolina Herrara, this Spring everything is coming up roses.

Trend: Green with Envy

NYFW 2015 Green Trend Delpozo Rodarte, Tracy Reese{Delpozo, Rodarte, Tracy Reese}

With the floral print in such high use it shouldn’t be any surprise that green played a very large role in a lot of designers’ collections.  While not as prevalent as the color blue, green was used to accent and punctuate collections, usually with hunter green or olive hues.  Both of which aren’t necessarily spring staples.

Trend: Fringe Benefits

NYFW 2015 Fringe Trend ICB Proenza Schouler Thakoon{ICB, Proenza Schouler, Thakoon}

One of my personal favorite trends was the use of fringe and tassels (a trend also big this Fall).  Rebecca Minkoff really embraced the fringe and sent almost every outfit down the runway with a beautifully crafted bag, dripping in fringe.  Luckily I have time to decide which one I’ll be purchasing for myself come Spring.
